A bus of Turag Paribahan plying on Jatrabari-Gazipur route was set on fire by unidentified miscreants in front of Malibagh police box in the capital.

The incident took place near Malibagh rail gate area around 11:45am on Saturday.

Being panicked at the fire, passengers broke the window glasses and jumped off the vehicle, witnesses said. Some passengers reportedly sustained minor injuries.

Sub Inspector (SI) Md Abdul Alim of DMP Hatirjheel Thana confirming the matter to media said police along with assistance of locals managed to douse the fire immediately after the incident.

Police, however, were on investigation to ascertain whether it was a sabotaging incident or a mere accident, he added.
